Die Idee zur Unterwasserstation, und damit zum Wildgarten entstand um 1987. Ich wollte in der Natur mit Menschen und Tieren arbeiten und vor allem mein eigener Chef sein. Die Suche nach einem geeigneten Standort und viele Gespräche mit den zuständigen Behörden dauerten zwei Jahre. Mit dem Beginn der Bauarbeiten galt ich in meiner Heimatstadt Furth im Wald lange Zeit als Spinner. Inzwischen gibt es den Wildgarten über 20 Jahre.
